Narwal Freo X Ultra
The Freo X Ultra, a highly rated and extremely functional Gen 4 robotic vacuum and mop is a well-built machine. The $1400 list price may be hard to swallow but it's often on sale to make it more affordable. The unit looks stunning, and the base takes up small space in the corner of your home.
The design of this robot is able to address some of the issues we've had with other robotic mop and vacuum models, for example, the brushes getting tangled in hair, and the vacuum brush being unable to reach floors with no furniture. The sweeping performance on carpets and floors that are not covered is also impressive. The vacuum/mop system has an excellent amount of debris removal, and the mop is able to soak up floors that are not soiled.
The mops also use a smart system to clean along the edges of furniture and walls. The robot is able to effortlessly avoid obstacles such as food bowls, toys, and backpacks. However, it could get stuck or get caught up in smaller and flatter objects such as shoelaces, USB cables, and pens.
We utilized this robot to vacuum and mop a variety of pile carpet tiles, FLOR rugs and hardwood floors within a large, open floor plan. With FREO Mind enabled, it vacuumed and mopped the 90m2 area in just 170 minutes that's close to the average for Gen 4.
Several features distinguish this robot from others in its class. The Freo X Ultra has a array of sensors, software, and hardware improvements engineered to keep it at the top of its class. It has declared autonomy of 3.5 hours for environments up to 260m2.
Freo's app lets you alter various functions, such as how often the robot returns back to the base station. You can also change the frequency of mopping and the power level (silent, smart), or the mopping humidity. The app can identify heavily dirty spots and create an appropriate cleaning route. It can also dispense detergent or raise the carpet pads.
Other impressive features include a fast charging battery, a simple-to-read display on the robot's bottom, and a convenient dock door that can be opened easily. The Freo X Ultra is the best vacuum and mop for home and apartment owners who want to make a difference in their chores while keeping their homes tidy and clean.
Miele Scout RX3
Miele is not a slouche in the world of robot vacuums and is renowned for quality and technological innovation. The new Miele robot is designed to take that to the next level with smart features and top-notch cleaning performance.
The RX3 features a dual-suction technology, intelligent mapping with 3D mapping and camera that transmits an image in real-time to your smartphone. The RX3's four-stage system is excellent for dust collection on carpets and hard floors. Swing-out side brushes with dual suction channels, and intuitive controls clean corners. Its 8.5 cm height lets it reach under furniture with low levels. Front cameras and infrared sensor assist in navigating barriers, thresholds and obstacles with ease.
In our test of how it cleaned baking soda near corners and on baseboards, the Scout RX3 was impressive. Its suction was less powerful than the other robots, however it was still very quiet and swift in its movements. It didn't mop, and its cleaning pad that was removable was a challenge to attach. It also wasn't able to handle dirt that was dried on.
The app doesn't have advanced features such as multiple cleaning modes or automated scheduling. Learn Even more Here works with Alexa however its voice commands aren't clear or responsive. It's also a bit flaky when it returns to the charging station following the course. Other robots can follow an obstruction or follow an earlier route, but the RX3 is a mess until it gives up.
We also experienced issues with the smart features of the device, including its mapping feature as well as digital stay-out zones. It was great at keeping our furniture legs and shoes away, but it was easily caught on cables, socks, and rug. This is the reason we decided not to include it on our Best Buy list. The Scout RX3 offers a good price and impressive performance. It's worth considering as an alternative to uprights that are traditionally used.
